The mission of The Astrological Society of South Africa (ASSA) is to provide a network for astrologers who wish to share their knowledge with colleagues as well as with the layman.
To this end we hold informative monthly meetings, where speakers cover a wide variety of topics; audios of the talks are available on the website about two weeks after the talk; we publish Aspects, a registered Astrology magazine which is published every second month. Articles are diverse and include South African as well as international authors and the content ranges from basic to advanced – there is something for everyone.
While we are based in Johannesburg, South Africa we ensure that most of the services are available to people distant from our base and to this end membership is open to anyone, anywhere.
Our web site offers you contact details of ASSA astrologers within your community and a host of information to assist you with any queries that you may have with regards to Astrology. Contact details of the ASSA committee are available and we invite you to contact us should you require Astrological assistance, or join ASSA as a member.
Subscription to our newsletter is free - this will keep you informed on the latest developments within ASSA and the Astrology community in general.
This is an inquiry into a fundamental problem that has to do with the tropical versus sidereal zodiac controversy and how it pertains to the practice of ancient astrology. During Pluto's passage through Sagittarius, the world's pace accelerated – an idea very much in keeping with Sagittarius' ‘push for the horizon' energetic. Now as Pluto moves into Capricorn, things may appear to slow down - Capricorn describes a phase of life which is diligently dogged in its pursuits, but seldom hurried. So no matter what happens during these coming years, don't think life's evolutionary forces have ground to a halt – they haven't.
For those of you who do not practice horary but have been following my column since its inception, you should not experience too much difficulty in following my judgement. I am using a different technique for this article in that I will list the dignities and other technical criteria at the beginning and then not refer to them too specifically again in the body of the article – I am assuming a level of proficiency in the craft amongst the readers of this column.
A friend of mine recently returned from a lengthy holiday abroad. To say that she has been depressed and unhappy since her return is to put it mildly – I believe that she has experienced panic attacks and her senses are heightened causing an over reaction to negative situations that she views in her immediate surroundings.
"2012 doom or gloom?" Linda Shaw, Richard Fidler, Jacqueline Brook, three astrologers of different disciplines of astrology will share their opinions on the subject.
