Driving home from our final ASSA meeting I felt tired, actually exhausted. I thought to myself, “Is this the usual end-of-year-I’m-sick-of-everything or is it something deeper?” I was too tired to think, so when I got home I just trundled off to bed attempting to read the new book I’d bought from Angela…

On waking I knew what was askew.

I am sick to death of the Modern vs. Traditional vs. The Rest debate. Traditionalists have become anal-retentive mothers trying to control their teenage delinquents (The Moderns), whilst The Rest look on.

(You may conclude that much to both camp’s disgust I’m one of The Rest).

Whatever happened to respecting your roots, and whatever happened to innovation and advancement? And is it impossible to have both at once? The Rest of me thinks thus:

The Moderns need to smarten up a bit and stop defending their stance with airy-fairy ‘but this is what I feel’ arguments…show us the goods by bringing one or two of your clients and their charts and proving to us that Pluto really is responsible for the crisis.

Can the Traditionalists too stand up and be counted…stop being so secretive and exclusive and produce your proof for The Rest to judge! Perhaps you can explain to us why if Astrological methods are not allowed any change, and can you predict the modern time of death from your old techniques?

I ask polite permission from above to become the spokesperson for The Rest who:

-include both Modern and Traditional ideas

-respect the structure of Tradition but are open to the possibilities of The Modern

-refer clients to the right astrologer, therapist or healer for their problem

-are humble enough to admit that they are still learning and experimenting

-are not caught up in the ego-need of ‘being right’ or ‘having a direct line to God’

-know in their hearts that no amount of science or statistics will ever prove/disprove astrology (either Traditional or Modern)

-have chosen the astrological path as a means to intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth and scholarship.

Viva The Rest…May they Rest in Peace and not partake in one more debate!!!

P.S. I did think that the debate had valid points on all sides but can we just leave it now???
